Burnley vs Manchester City: Preview and Predictions
Manchester City will look to put behind them their frustrating 2-2 draw away at Newcastle on Saturday when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor.
The defending champons have been inconsistent this season. They have lost games and dropped points from fixtures everyone would’ve expected them to win. With 9(W), 2 (D), 3 (L), Manchester City finds themselves in 3rd place, with 3 points behind Leicester in second, and 11 points behind table-leaders, Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola knows that their title race has suffered a major setback, so they will fancy their chances against Burnley.
The hosts have had a decent start since returning back to the Premier league. They have 5 (W), 3 (D), 6 (L). They are currently 10th in the table with 18 points.
While Manchester City’s focus will be on retaining the league title, Burnley will just be comfortable with finishing in a strong position at the end of the season.
Man City are still without some key figures for this match, including all-time record goalscorer Sergio Aguero due to a thigh problem. Long-term absentees Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte are not expected back until the new year, while this match is also likely to come too soon for Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne could be among the players to keep their places having both been on the scoresheet at the weekend, while Gabriel Jesus is likely to lead the line once again in Aguero’s absence.
Burnley will be without Charlie Taylor due to hamstring injury sustained last weekend. Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Matej Vydra are but set to return as they will both undergo late fitness tests ahead of the match.
Ashley Westwood is available again after missing the Palace defeat through suspension and is expected to come straight back into the team.
